ICS Advanced Technologies has been providing internet service to businesses and apartment buildings since 2002. As this is a highly competitive market, it became clear early on that ICS would need technology to set itself apart. In 2004, the IBIS Division was born and with it the IBIS Internet Portal. |
The IBIS Internet portal manages internet access in all of the apartments to which we provide internet service. Tenants within these buildings can easily create their own free IBIS accounts and log on anywhere ICS IBIS internet service is available. This includes various public Wi-Fi hotspots commissioned by the City of Ames. |
If an individual is not satisfied with the default level of service, upgrades are available at most of our locations. It is as simple as selecting your new speed, entering a credit card number and the account is instantly upgraded. |
Additionally, apartment managers can use this system to post messages on the IBIS Portal page and keep in touch with their tenants whenever they please. This entire system was built from the ground up by ICS Advanced Technologies. |
Successfully managing a network of over 8000 internet and DirecTV® subscribers requires a very specialized database. As there is no commercially available database capable of handling the specific needs of the ICS network, it was necessary to create one. The result of this endeavor is referred to within the company as 'V3'. |
Each property may have a different default level of service depending on the contract. V3 is capable of dynamically altering the speed of each tenant within a building at the click of a button. |
Another significant task of V3 is to track and log all support issues that appear within the network. This system is responsible for tracking every support event from a simple phone call, to DirecTV installations, to major network maintenance issues. The responsibilities of V3 are vast but it has been proven as a highly reliable and critical component to ICS's success as a satellite and internet service provider. |
The IBIS Division has also built large database based applications for 3rd parties. A recent project involved converting an Access database with over 3500 records to a web-based application. The result of this project is a system which is vastly more secure, faster, and will scale with the client's needs for years to come. |
As the demands of modern web applications have grown, ICS has managed to stay on the cutting edge of development techniques and frameworks. With strict adherence to modern coding standards, ICS produces clean, readable, and reliable code. |
The ability to integrate 3rd party code with existing systems is also a critical skill to possess. One of the IBIS Division's projects was an inventory management system that required integration with an existing Quickbooks inventory database. This particular project went a step further and even required a Windows based application to be written so that barcodes could be printed directly from the web application to a proprietary barcode printer. |
The IBIS Division has also handled many smaller websites for local businesses. |
